Full Job Description

About the Role

We’re seeking an enthusiastic facilitator who puts youth first. In this role, you’ll support middle school students with hands-on social-emotional learning. You’ll also lead small groups for middle schoolers, helping them build emotional regulation, resilience, and strong peer relationships through group discussions, daily reflections, and activities.

You’ll also lead the YTJ Leadership Group, a program for high school students interested in social justice, community change, and public policy. In this part of the job, you’ll run workshops, discussions, and group projects that help youth grow as leaders in public speaking, critical thinking, civic engagement, advocacy, and community problem-solving.

We value youth voices, lived experience, and strong relationships. Our goal is to create a supportive space where everyone can take part and grow.

Key Responsibilities

As a Restorative Justice Coordinator, you’ll focus on early interventions and mentorship for students who need extra support.

Direct Student Support

Provide social-emotional and behavioral support through one-on-one coaching and small group sessions.

Case Management and Referrals

Manage a caseload of students, track their progress in our program, connect them with other services when needed, and keep clear, accurate records.

Family and Staff Collaboration

Work with school staff to coordinate student care, connect with families, share community resources, and provide bilingual support or translation when needed.

Youth Leadership

Help organize youth-led projects and leadership opportunities during meetings, and take part in community outreach and program advocacy.

Youth Transportation and Program Travel

This position requires transporting youth and traveling to school, community, and program sites throughout Marin County. A valid California driver’s license, reliable access to an insured vehicle, and a driving record that meets YTJ’s insurance and youth transportation standards are required.

Other Duties

Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, public health, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant work, volunteer, or lived experience will also be considered.

Experience

At least two years of experience working in a school, health, or community setting, ideally with children and teens ages 8 to 18.

Experience working with students, families, and community health or social service agencies.

Skills

Familiarity with trauma-informed practices, equity frameworks, and healing-centered approaches.

Strong skills in facilitation, active listening, and conflict management.

Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, confidentiality, and fairness.

Experience working with diverse youth, families, and communities, and strong cultural competency.

Proficiency in English is required. Spanish fluency is preferred.

Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon completion of required pre-employment clearances after a conditional offer, including applicable background check/Live Scan requirements, mandated reporter training, verification of driving eligibility, and any school-partner clearance requirements.
