BioMarin officially opened a new gene therapy manufacturing plant in Novato on Monday, August 7. The ribbon-cutting celebration was attended by over 200 guests, including many community leaders from around Marin County. The plant, located at 35 Leveroni Court in Bel Marin Keys, is one of the first and largest gene therapy manufacturing facilities in the world. This facility will be home to the clinical production of our pipeline product to treat hemophilia A, a rare bleeding disorder. Clinical trials for this product, BMN 270, are scheduled to begin later this year.

You can find more information on our Factor VIII vector for hemophilia on our website. There are also a few videos on that page that explain how gene therapy works, for anyone who may not be scientifically-inclined but is still interested in learning a bit more about it.
