Marin Shakespeare Company announces its 30thAnniversary featuring
Measure for Measure, Spamalot, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream

SAN RAFAEL, CA - Marin Shakespeare Company, Marin County's only professional Shakespeare theatre, announces its 2019 outdoor summer season – a season exploring social justice, whimsical romance, and laughter for all. Presented under the summer stars, Marin Shakespeare's 30th season opens with “Measure for Measure,” exploring the morality of the criminal justice system, as well as the morality of the human heart.  The second show of the season is the Tony Award-Winning musical, Monty Python’s, “Spamalot”, Marin Shakespeare Company’s first musical.  Closing out the season will be “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with romance run amuck in a magical forest.  The 2019 season marks the 30th Anniversary of Marin Shakespeare Company, with Opening Night festivities and Pay What You Will tickets on Saturday, June 29.

Punitive laws, desire, and the realm of the human heart collide in “Measure for Measure”. The cast features Luisa Frasconi, Joseph Patrick O’Malley, Brennan Pickman-Thoon, and Patrick Russell, directed by Robert Currier, Artistic Director. The production will have a contemporary setting, with prison scenes set in nearby San Quentin Prison, where Marin Shakespeare Company has offered Shakespeare programs for the past 16 years. Performances are June 29 - July 21. Preview June 28 at 8 pm. Season opening celebration Saturday, June 29 at 7 pm.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” directed by Lesley Schisgall Currier, rounds out the 30th Anniversary Season with romance and frolic. With an ensemble cast including Artist-in-Residence Dameion Brown as Oberon, and Artist-in-Residence LeMar “Maverick” Harrison as Puck the production features a cast of actors of color, a first for Marin Shakespeare Company.
