Sen. Mike McGuire announced this week that Cecilia Zamora, executive director of Latino Council of Marin, has been named Marin County “Woman of the Year.”

The award is in recognition of Women’s History Month, honoring women for their commitment to advancing their communities. McGuire, D-Healdsburg, selected one woman from each of the seven counties in the 2nd Senate District.

Zamora, who also serves as president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Marin, was selected for her long track record of successfully helping nonprofits, government agencies, community organizations, and businesses to better serve the Latino community. Zamora also serves on the Workforce Alliance of the North Bay and is chairwoman of the Marin Women’s Commission. She participates in leadership teams of the Bank of Marin Central Advisory Board, Boys & Girls Club of Marin and Sonoma Counties, Latina Breast Cancer Agency, Marin Asian Advocacy Project and MarinKids and is a former member of the Marin General Hospital Board of Directors.
